Friday File 40

The cooler weather is here, and everything feels so cozy. We’re using our wood stove every day. I love to sit in my rocking chair near the stove. It’s actually a favourite spot for everyone. I’m glad I get to claim right of ownership.

I’ve started quilting my oldest son’s quilt – again. I think I’ve been working on this project for about two years now. I’m finally in a mind frame to get it done. I’ve also done three sets of pajamas for my three little boys. I’ve cut out pajama pants for my big boys and hope to sew those this weekend.

My sock rug is coming along! You can read about how I’m making it in this post. And here’s an updated picture on how big it has become! Isn’t it exciting. I still have quite a few socks. I’m all out of blue though so the rest of the rug will be with black and white. It is so thick and soft. I can hardly wait to finish this for my girls.

Healthy Simplicity - sock rug update

I think I mentioned before that I started to knit a sock. I’ve always wanted to know how to do this but have been scared to try because everyone always complains about the heel. Well, I did have to read the instructions SEVERAL times AND pray, but – I did it! One sock is finished, and when I finish the other one I’ll post a picture. I think this is so cool that I can do this. I have to say that I can totally understand why women would darn socks to make them last longer. I can’t imagine having to knit socks for all of my family.

With all of this handwork I haven’t had as much time on the internet, but I did find a couple of things that you might be interested in.

I found this article very interesting. I have to say that I agree. I do most of these things, and when I do them consistently my days go better.

33 Things I Do Almost Every Day That Make My Day So Much Better

I’m enjoying following a series about things to do with your children that don’t involve a screen. I love the idea of having a tea time even with boys. I know that often when I’m feeling stressed a nice cup of tea is just the thing to put a new perspective on life. I think the next time school feels more than a little chaotic we’re going to call a time-out and sit around the table with a cup of tea.
