Library Time 67

Today we went to the library in our area and got new library cards! Going to a new library is always exciting. We left with a big stack of books – old favourites and new titles to try. Then we went to a thrift store across the street and bought some books. Quite a good book day for us.

I read a Grace Livingston Hill romance this week – The Mystery of Mary. Every once in a while I get a desire to read one of these books. The romances are always sweet with the men being gentlemen and the women ladies even in the midst of adversities. Many of Grace Livingston Hill’s books are free on Kindle which is how I get mine.

16-year-old daughter – Where Eagles Dare by Alistair MacLean – a WWII spy story. She thoroughly enjoyed racing her way through this book.

15-year-old son – Small Arms Visual Encyclopedia by Martin Dougherty. I think Noah and his brother are going to have this book worn out soon. Even their little brothers love to pour over it.

13-year-old son – Code of Claw by Suzanne Collins

11-year-old daughter – Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

9-year-old daughter – Little Town on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder – a perennial favourite in our home.

7-year-old son – Babar’s Rescue by Laurent De Brunhoff

4-year-old son – Norman the Doorman by Don Freeman. This is the author of Corduroy. A cute story about a mouse who lives at an art museum and enters a sculpting contest.

2-year-old son – Carl’s Snowy Afternoon by Alexandra Day. Carl makes such a good babysitter even in the snow.

When’s the last time you visited your local library?

I read a biography last week on a missionary named Bruce Olson. WELL worth reading. Now I’m reading a William Carey biography and I think Dad sent it to the kids :). It is a kid’s book but I’m thoroughly enjoying it and learning so much. I was also reading a biography on President George H. W. Bush written by President Bush (the son) but it expired at the library (Overdrive and Kindle) so I need to renew it. This too is a great book!!!
