Library Time 55

Library Time - Healthy Simplicity

I read an exceptionally good memoir of the Holocaust this week. Outcry: Holocaust Memoirs by Manny Steinberg. Manny tells the story of how he, his brother and his father survived the Holocaust and later came to start a new life in America. His father was a man of dignity and never let the degradation of the camps take that away from him.

16-year-old daughter – The Collected Short Stories of Louis L’Amour, Volume 5: The Frontier Stories. I enjoy reading Louis L’Amour’s westerns. I’m so glad my children have discovered him.

14-year-old son – Brick Wonders: Ancient, Modern, and Natural Wonders Made from LEGO by Warren Elsmore. This looks interesting. I want to have a look at it before he takes it back to the library.

12-year-old son – The Carnivorous Carnival (A Series of Unfortunate Events # 9) by Lemony Snicket

11-year-old daughter – The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. I’m reading this out loud to the younger ones. My daughters assure me I’ll be crying by the end.

9-year-old daughter – Alexis Gets Frosted by Coco Simon

7-year-old son – Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson

4-year-old son – The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. I keep asking them to pick books we haven’t read for a long time, and they keep bringing me all their old favourites that I have memorized. Sigh.

What did you read this week?

At least you can read them while you sleep LOL 🙂 Those lovely books you have memorized! I need to read with them on Skype!!!
I read “Outcry” too and it was VERY good. We do NOT know what hardship is!
I’m also amazed though not surprised at the resilience Louis Zamp…. – his life is a miracle and yet he just basically decided to take the optimistic approach to life and look at all he survived. On top of this, he was able to go home and find God and see how salvation completed this optimistic outlook. I believe no Christian needs to lose their joy – we have much to be grateful for 🙂
