We all know how easy it is to have faith when everything is going right. How easy it feels to love and serve God.
I know that feeling. I remember one day talking to a friend about God’s blessings on my life, and she told me I was spoiled. I happily pleaded guilty to her “accusation.”
God’s been teaching me though. You can be “spoiled” in the valley too. God loves us just as much in the valley as on the mountain top.
Some days I feel like I’m just hanging on by my fingernails before dropping into the abyss of despair, but I have found over and over again that God sends me help in some form to bring me back from the edge. That help can be a song, a verse, a call from a friend, a hug, or just the sure knowledge that God is walking this path with me.
I know it’s so hard sometimes to remember that God loves you and still cares for you when you’re walking (sometimes crawling) through a valley, but please be assured God knows. He cares and He’s walking with you.
In fact, a shepherd leads. This means even in the dark places God is walking ahead of us making sure that there is nothing in our path that will be too much for us. I KNOW this can be hard to believe, but God has been proving this to me over and over…and there is nothing sweeter than knowing God is with me in the dark times.
Life is easy, when you’re up on the mountain,
And you’ve got peace of mind, like you’ve never known
But things change, when you’re down in the valley.
Don’t lose faith, for you’re never alone.
Chorus:
For the God on the mountain, is still God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He’ll make them right.
And the God of the good times, is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day, is still God in the night.
We talk of faith way up on the mountain
But talk comes easy, when life’s at its best.
Now its down in the valleys, trials and temptations
That’s where your faith is really put to the test.
