Goals for Summer 2020

Spring seemed like it dragged on for so long this year. The end of school felt a tiny bit anti-climatic so that I’ve barely realized yet that it IS summer. The weather hasn’t helped either to be honest – cool and rainy. I’m still wearing sweaters and slippers.

Anyway, it just dawned on me that it is indeed summer, and that if I’m not careful it’s going to slip past without much accomplished. The best way to get something done is to make goals AND publish them so I’m accountable.

  • I’ve promised my boys that I will teach them loom knitting this summer. To that end I’ve been pinning techniques and patterns. Now we need to pick out some projects and yarn.

  • I’d like to make some kind of new Thanksgiving decoration. Maybe a table runner.
Maybe this pattern
  • I’d also like to get started on Christmas gifts. I’ve been thinking about doing something with cross stitching over the summer for some of the gifts. We’ll see. I have to give that some more thought. I also have some Christmas decorations in mind.

                   more thrift store finds 🙂
  • I want to make a start at either candle or soap making this summer. These have both been on my to do list for decades.
  • There’s also gardening, reading, scrapbooking.
  • I have some sewing projects in mind – a skirt or two for one of my daughters, shorts for my younger boys.

  • I need to finish Micah’s quilt and make Noah’s. I’m so close to being finished this very long project of making a memory quilt for each of my children from their dad’s clothes. It’s been equal parts hard and good. I also have a baby quilt to make. I have the fabric, and I think I’ve nailed down the pattern I want to use.

Aren’t they cute?

I guess I should get off of the computer and go get started. This is the first time in a long time I’ve been excited about summer goals. I’m hoping I can give a very full update in September.
