I don’t know about you, but I have needed the Bible so much the past few weeks. The Bible and prayer.
My oldest daughter told me about an app I might enjoy because they have Bible reading plans that vary from just a three-day plan to a three sixty-five day plan for reading the Bible.
This has become my favourite Bible app. I know there are so many Bible apps available. I have two on my phone. Both offer a verse of the day every morning around eight. Both have the King James Bible. But this one is a definite favourite, and I wanted to tell why I like it so much.
I have really enjoyed picking out short plans and reading them in the middle of the day as a pick-me-up. So far I’ve complete a seven-day plan about anxiety, one on Easter, a plan about prayer, another on loneliness, the name of God – Jehovah Nissi, and I’m in the middle of one about being a single mom. These have not taken the place of my regular Bible reading, but have been a nice addition. The plans have a short devotional and one to three verses each day.

I love being able to highlight verses and then seeing all my highlighted verses in one place. I can also comment on verses.
There is also a place for prayer lists. This really spurred me on to write down my prayer requests instead of trying to keep them all in my head. I now use my paper lists more than the lists on the app, but they gave me the nudge I needed.

One night I woke up from a horrific nightmare. The kind where you’re almost paralyzed with fear. I was still groggy and couldn’t read my Bible to calm down, but I needed to so badly. Then I remembered that this app has an audio component. I pulled my phone into bed with me and soon was listening to some British guy reading the Psalms. I listened to about twenty-five Psalms before I was able to go back to sleep. What a comfort!
If you like rewards, this app gives you virtual badges for various accomplishments. 🙂 Rewards are fun.

Of course, I use it in school if we need to look up a Bible verse.
I’m sure there are other things I could be doing with this app, but this is just what I’ve discovered so far.
Finally, you can share any, all or none of this with friends. I’m rather private so everything is private, but you could make a prayer list public or share a Bible reading plan with a friend.
This app has really blessed me in the past few weeks. If you don’t have one you like, check out the YouVersion Bible app.
