Simple Living 4

March seemed to crawl by, but April has been flying. I can’t believe we’re already a third of the way through April. We still have lots of snow here, but it is slowly – oh so slowly – disappearing.

We’ve slowly been getting used to doing church via livestream or as we did Wednesday night with Zoom. That was exciting as we tried to sing congregationally, but the time lag was just too great. It was good for some laughs though which we all need these days.

Staying connected in some way seems to be so much more important now that it is denied to us. I have been trying to be mindful of scheduling video chats for my younger boys with their friends and calling or texting my friends.

While looking through my pins on Pinterest, I came across this post about five creative ways kids can use the mail to stay connected. I especially love the idea of starting a story that the recipient adds to and mails back to you which you then add to and mail back to them. I think I want to get each of my boys started on this with a friend of their choosing.

I finished knitting my blanket this week. However, as I suspected my six-foot-plus tall son doesn’t think it’s big enough. He really, really wants it now though so we came up with a compromise. He’ll use it for now while the weather is still cool/cold. Then over the summer I’ll add to it and put a border on. I’m already missing this project.

I sewed a bookmark for a friend and hope to put up a post on that because it’s super easy.

I didn’t get any pictures of this which I’m sorry for. My two younger daughters bought cookies and marshmallows and candies. With their younger brothers’ help they took everything apart and put it all back together again as a giant chocolate bar. It was so amazingly good. I’m going to use the excuse of needing pictures for you all to get them to do another one.

I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy.

    1. Thank you. I love that the knitted blanket looks like a quilt. Feels like the best of two worlds.
Yes, the candy bar idea. Very dangerous and potentially addictive except for the cost involved. That MAY slow us down a little. 🙂
