I hardly know where to start to catch you up on where we are now as a family. The past three years have been the most difficult of all of our lives, but through it all God has been so good to us providing for all our needs and protecting us.
Currently we have changed churches for a variety of reasons. We are enjoying settling into our new church and finding ways to serve the Lord here.
I was a little confused when the first anniversary of Hugo’s death passed and life became if anything more difficult, the grief more acute. I have learned so many things these past two years about grief. Most importantly I’ve learned that there is no one set way to grieve, there is no timeline to be maintained, most importantly you can’t fight it.
Now a little bit about the children (and some aren’t children so much anymore but will always be my children.😊)
My oldest, Eva-Joy, has a writing job which she can do from home so that’s nice for me. She’s a huge help around the house and just in keeping my spirits up. She also helps out in the children’s church and sings in the church choir.
Noah has worked in landscaping and construction since we moved out here. He has also joined the church choir. He does a lot of chauffeuring with his siblings.
Ezra is finishing Grade 12. This is the highest year I will ever have for students. I guess it’s all downhill from here. 😊
Elisabeth is still my fashionista and is becoming quite musical with choir and an instrument. She’s hoping for a job and her driver’s license this year. Having another driver will be such a blessing.
Rebekah brings so much laughter to my life. She has such a quirky personality. There are so many times I can’t help laughing at what she says and does. She has also joined the church choir and is learning how to sing alto.
Micah continues to have an exuberant personality. It’s hard to believe that in less than a year he’ll be a teenager. He and Ethan have earned a lot of money from snow shoveling since we came to Edmonton. He has plans to make money this summer by mowing lawns. Micah likes to help out in the church’s scripture printing ministry when he has opportunity.
Ethan is still my most outwardly affectionate child. I never lack for hugs and kisses from him. He recently started piano lessons, and twice he’s participated in NaNoWriMo with Eva-Joy writing a couple of stories that were each thousands of words long.
Jonah – my baby – is not so much of a baby anymore. Sigh. He’s working hard on learning to read and is a whiz at his math. He gets lots of good natured teasing since he’s the baby. Most of it just slides over him.
I’m still adjusting to life as a single mom. One big change we made this year was to go to a four-day school week. I needed one day for the errands I now have to do. So we work a little harder for four days and use Fridays for errands, cleaning, and the occasional outing.
This is a picture from Mother’s Day 2019. As you can see I’m slowly moving to the position of shortest person in the family.

I look forward to posting more often here and hearing from all of you about how your life is going.
