I was recently reminded of this beautiful song. I’ve known this song for a long time, but I would have to say that it’s never been meaningful to me like it is now. I’m sad because we’re moving, and my hymnbook with this song in it is packed up so I can’t go and play it right now.
I learned some interesting things about the author of this song. She lost both of her parents at a very young age -her mother from giving birth to Annie’s younger sister and her father shortly thereafter. Her father had made provision for his daughters to be raised by a Baptist family.
Annie was saved at a young age and apparently had a happy childhood in her adoptive home. Soon after high school Annie developed arthritis which quickly spiraled downward, and a few years later both of her adoptive parents died within a short time of each other. This song has become more meaningful to me knowing all of these things. (visit this website for a more complete biography – https://hymnary.org/person/Flint_Annie)
She also wrote a well-known poem which I will include at the end of this post. It’s one that I’m sure will bless you. The message is one we all need to take to heart.
I also discovered in writing this post that there are actually three verses to this song – not just the two I knew of.
Every line in this song speaks to me and encourages me to go on because God will be there to give strength, mercy, peace from His abundant supply. And even better He never wearies of our coming to Him with our needs. He never fails.
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
Chorus:
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.
~Annie J. Flint

Skies always blue,
Flower- strewn pathways
All our lives through;
Sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow,
Peace without pain.
We shall not know
Toil and temptation,
Trouble and woe;
We shall not bear
Many a burden,
Many a care.
Strength for the day,
Rest for the laborer,
Light for the way,
Help from above,
Unfailing sympathy,
Undying love.

Are you moving far? Will you keep the same church family?

We’re actually moving so that we can be closer to our church as well as getting a slightly bigger house.
