Here I am actually popping on to get you caught up with our family. I haven’t written a Friday post since February, and we’ve had a lot of things happen – some good, some not so good.
In May on Victoria Day my seven-year-old son fell of his bike, and we ended up at the hospital where he had seven stitches in his chin. I was so glad that my oldest son wasn’t at work and could come pick us up from the side of the road where the accident happened. I’m also thankful for the kind stranger who stayed with me until Noah arrived.

Then last week I was in an accident with our Jetta. The car is totalled, but thank God I walked away from it. My worst injury is a burn/abrasion on my arm. Just over a week later there is a huge improvement, but it still bothers me if I use my arm to much since the muscle underneath was bruised.

I finished the second quilt in the series that I’m making for my children from my husband’s clothes. Elisabeth wanted a pixelated heart within a heart. Unfortunately here dad’s wardrobe was rather chromatic, and it’s hard to see the hearts. The back of the quilt has a shirt of his that she chose, and I appliqued on.

My temperature blanket is coming along although I have not been able to knit since the accident. I think this winter when I’m cold I’ll do a lot of catching up. You can see though how the temperature is warming up. The blanket is finished through the end of May.

In April we went down to the States to physically meet a family we had met online through mutual friends. We had so much fun with this family of eight and hope to visit them again soon.
My youngest daughter was saved and baptized this spring which was wonderful to see. It was neat how it worked out that she could be baptized on the first anniversary Sunday of our church!
In June my four youngest children were invited to a birthday party at an indoor playground. That was a new experience for all of us. After the pizza we went out to play. I was surprised myself and my children by crawling all over the equipment with them. We had a blast.
I made two baby books as newborn gifts. My friends loved them. If you know a busy mom who would like to get her child(ren)’s pictures in a book please give her my contact info. I love making these books, and the recipients love them too.
We’ve also been going on bike rides together. I have a trailer where I can put my youngest and anything extra we want to bring – mostly a book for me to sit and read while I recover from the exercise (smile). It’s been fun.
On to Pinterest…
I’ve been trying chocolate chip cookie dough treats. So far this is my favourite. It’s nice to have a guilt-free treat.
My daughter made these treats for our Canada Day church picnic. I didn’t get a fantastic picture, but they sure tasted good.

This casserole! We’ve made it twice and LOVED it both times. We’ve tweaked it, of course, but it is so good.

I’ve been pinning a lot of greeting card ideas lately. You can find my Pinterest board full of ideas here. And did you know that you can now do sub-categories on Pinterest? I’m working on dividing my card ideas into different sections. So far I just have a “Birthday” category.
I made this dessert recipe – even bought a springform pan to be able to do it. This was a huge hit. My children couldn’t stop raving about it. Super easy and super good.
Now on to what’s being celebrated over the next few days:
- Saturday, July 14th – National Mac and Cheese Day (Oh yeah! We’ll be celebrating this.)
- Sunday, July 15th – Give Something Away Day (Does the stuff I sent to Goodwill today count for that?)
- Monday, July 16th – Fresh Spinach Day (I guess I’ll be searching Pinterest for a salad.)
- Tuesday, July 17th – World Emoji Day (Do we really need to celebrate emojis?)
- Wednesday, July 18th – National Caviar Day (Sorry. I’ll be skipping this one.)
- Thursday, July 19th – National Raspberry Cake Day (But this one we’ll do!)
Overall we’ve been enjoying spring and summer in our new home. How has your spring and summer been?
