Yesterday in church we sang this song – He Leadeth Me. It’s interesting how in the midst of heartache and trials songs take on a new meaning and comfort that you never saw before.
The first and second verses of this song utterly express the comfort I have had over the past year as I faced losing my husband, moving away from all I had known for the past thirty years, and starting a new life without my husband’s help.
But verse three truly caught my attention. To place my hand trustingly in the Lord’s and never to complain about the lot He has set for me. To be content because God is leading me.
I cannot begin to tell you how many times God has showed Himself faithful and loving over the past several months. Many times in ways I would have never thought of. He has showed Himself faithful over and over. How can I do less than to “place my hand in Thine, Nor ever murmur nor repine; Content, whatever lot I see…”
I can truly say that God is good all the time. I may not always understand His ways, but I can always trust.
He leadeth me, O blessed thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
Refrain:
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful foll’wer I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.
Sometimes ’mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, o’er troubled sea,
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.
Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.
And when my task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

My husband and I love this song. Also “God will leads us Along”. Now, that we sing more hymnal praises songs to the Lord before prayer meeting, the more you are thankful and appreciates the Lord’s love, comfort, and mercy. Great to see your blog again!
