A few years ago I discovered a Reading Challenge put out by PopSugar every January. I have enjoyed doing it because quite often through the challenge I have been pushed into reading something I wouldn’t have otherwise due to the challenge.
I wasn’t able to do it last year because of dealing with my husband’s illness. This year though I printed up the challenge and have started to tick off the books. Well, I’m not sure I’ve completed any of the books, but I’ve started to compile the list of what I need to read.
Here’s what I’m looking at….
A book…
made into a movie you’ve already seen – The Princess Bride
of true crime
that is the next book in a series you started – Champion
Nordic noir
A novel based on a real person
set in a country that fascinates you
with a time of day in the title – A Man Called Noon
about a villain or antihero – Fairest
about death or grief – The Book Thief
with your favourite colour in the title – Blue Castle
about time travel – Tomorrow Code
with a weather element in the title
set at sea
set on a different planet – The 5th Man
with song lyrics in the title
with characters who are twins – A Time to Die
with a female author who uses a male pseudonym something by – George Eliot
that is also a stage play or musical
by an author of a different ethnicity than you
about feminism – The Feminism Mistake
about mental health
you borrowed or a gift – The Matters at Mansfield
by two authors – Do Hard Things
about or involving a sport
by a local author
mentioned in another book – Villette
that is a childhood classic you never read
published in 2018 – Educated: A Memoir
that is a past Goodreads Choice Awards winner – When Breath Becomes Air
set in the decade you were born
you meant to read in 2017 but didn’t get to
with an ugly cover
that involves a bookstore or library
with your favourite prompt from 2015/16/17 PSRC
involving a heist – Heist Society
with alliteration in the title – Nicholas Nickleby
with an animal in the title – Rin Tin Tin
So, as I read the books the colour of the title will be changed to blue. I’m open to suggestions for books to read.
My youngest daughter has been inspired this year to do one directed towards children.
Have you ever done a reading challenge?
