Friday File 81

This has been a big week craft wise. I cautiously went back to knitting – at first. Then I went at it frantically to finish a hooded scarf I started for my daughter before she went with her siblings to a church snow camp. I finished it just a couple of hours before she left.

I also sewed some pyjamas for her plus a curtain for the window in my little guys’ bedroom. I put together another shelf of books for my daughter’s quilt. I’m really enjoying this project. Then I went back to knitting my temperature blanket. I’m over two weeks behind but I’m hoping by next Friday to be caught up and then I’ll show you an updated picture.

I also made this adorable pair of pyjamas for my uber-adorable five year old. This was the best smile he could give us.

The house has felt quiet for the last twenty-four hours. Even with three little boys here having five children away makes a huge difference. We’ve been having fun though. We went to the North America’s largest mall and watched a seal show, bought some new books in a bookstore (Ginger Pye and Pinky Pye), did some baking, watched a movie, and had some pizza. But we’re still looking forward to having everyone home tomorrow.

Today makes three months since we moved into our new home. We’re beginning to find our new normal and routines that work for us now. I love routines. They take so much stress out of life to know what’s happening next. I’m still decorating our new home – putting up pictures and deciding if I really like where I first put certain pieces of furniture. I love this idea I found for seasonal decorations, and I know the wall I want to do it on.

This looks like such a cool game – quiet too always a bonus.

I’m going to have to organize all of my leftover fabric scraps soon. There are just so many. This looks like a good way to use some up. These would make fast gifts.

Speaking of gifts…This post shows such a simple, homemade baby gift.

I love the idea of a healthy chocolate pudding. I’ve tried chia pudding before but hate the slimy feel of the chia seeds. This recipe is different because you grind the seeds first.

Did you celebrate any of the special days last week? My youngest daughter made her first cake ever – carrot cake last Saturday (I couldn’t find the picture we took. You’ll just have to take my word for it that it tasted as good as it looked), and we had pizza tonight for National Pizza Day. Here’s the list for next week…

  • Saturday – February 10 – Umbrella Day (Not sure what we will do if anything in the middle of winter)
  • Sunday – February 11 – Make a Friend Day (We can surely befriend someone at church)
  • Monday – February 12 – Plum Pudding Day (I’ll have to visit Pinterest for some ideas)
  • Tuesday – February 13 – Get a Different Name Day (That should be fun to see what my children would pick)
  • Wednesday – February 14 – Library Lovers’ Day (Hey! We love the library)
  • Thursday – February 15 – Gumdrop Day (Should be very easy)
  • Friday – February 16 – Do a Grouch a Favour Day (Well, I’d hate to label someone as a grouch)

Next week I’ll be planning a birthday party. I’ll let you know how that goes. I hope you have a great week loving your family and having fun with them.
