I only recently learned this song. First from a new cd, and then because our song leader chose it so I had to learn to play it.

The words are comforting and reassuring. No matter what happens in life, we are not alone. We have a friend in Jesus Who will help to bear our burdens. And who among us does not need the love of a Divine Friend? Our friends here on earth can be very sympathetic, but often even their love cannot help the hurt in our heart. Jesus’ love never fails. 

Is there a heart o’erbound by sorrow?
Is there a life weighed down by care?
Come to the cross, each burden bearing;
All your anxiety—leave it there.
