This has been a busy winter break but a good one. I wrote out a list of things to do, and I think I accomplished about 80% of it so I’m happy. It’s been nice to stay up late and sleep in. To not have the pressure of school every day. I’m not sure if I’m ready to go back, but Monday morning will see us all back to school.
I am in the middle of making kitchen curtains for myself. I finished one. I was going to show you a before, but I had to take the picture with my phone. The children are out right now, and they have my phone. Basically I had pinned two pillowcases together to use as a temporary curtain – not very pretty, but it got the job done. I can’t hang the curtains over our sink yet because I still need to buy a rod. The sun really glares in that window in the afternoons so I need to get this done soon.

I also started a year-long project this week. A friend posted a picture about knitting a temperature scarf. Basically you knit one row every day in a colour that matches the temperature. I was interested and looked it up. That’s when I learned that temperature blankets are even more popular so I decided to take the dive. Sometime next week I’ll put up a post about this whole concept and exactly how I’m doing it. It’s a very subjective craft since you can decide the colours, kind of stitch, size, etc. There’s no real pattern. That has made the perfectionist side of me a little anxious, but now that I’m started I’m enjoying it. I’m one day behind since I was three days late starting.

So now on to what I’ve found interesting on the internet lately…
I think I need to read this list at least once a week just to remind myself that I’m only going to have these children a short time, and I need to enjoy them now.
32 Ways to Savor Your Children While You Have Them
This looks like an amazing tasty and frugal recipe. I think the only thing I would do differently is to add the meat near the end of the cook time. We’ve found that adding ham or bacon to a crockpot dish too soon makes them lose their flavour. As an aside, has anyone else heard of this tradition of eating black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day?

I’m actually going to be trying this recipe when I finish this post. I’m going to be making chocolate chip cookies (my favourite cookie flavour) with my little boys, and I need something for me that will be low carb.

This craft caught my eye. I don’t know if I’d ever be brave enough to cut up a book but maybe a thrift store book I didn’t like? Hugo’s cousin made us a beautiful angel out of a hymnbook. We really like that so maybe that would help me take the plunge.
I hope you all have a great weekend. I’m hoping to sew a dress tomorrow. I’ll let you know how that goes. A simple pattern so hopefully I’ll have a good report.
