So right now I’m reading two books. Well, three actually, but we won’t get into that. Anyway, I like to have a paper back/hard cover book and one on my Kindle.

My paper back book right now is called Safe Passage by Ida Cook. It’s a memoir about two British sisters who rescued quite a few Jewish people before World War II officially began. The first part of the book is all about their love of opera. This is so important to their rescue of Jewish people, and you’ll have to read the book to figure that out.

On my Kindle I’m reading an Oppenheim book. I know that that surprises no one who has read my blog for any length of time. Peter Ruff and the Double Four is one of the best Oppenheim books that I’ve read, and that’s saying a lot since I’ve read dozens in the past few years. Peter Ruff basically transforms from a rascally petty thief to someone who is not only law abiding but aids the police in the capture of criminals. Sounds lame put that way, I know, but it is so good. I would highly recommend this Oppenheim book.

18-year-old daughter – The Giver by Lois Lowry

16-and 14-year-old sons – Redwall by Brian Jacques

13-year-old daughter – While We’re Far Apart by Lynn Austin. A World War II story.

11-year-old daughter – Strider by Beverly Cleary. Two boys share a dog. I’m not surprised my daughter enjoyed this because she loves dogs.

9-year-old son – The Essential Fishing Handbook by Joe Cermele. He doesn’t really read this, but he has certainly studied this book a lot. He’s into fishing these because his Dad has promised him a fishing trip, and they’ve started to put together a tackle box.

6-year-old son – The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. Ethan’s reading is growing by leaps and bounds. It amazes me.

4-year-old son – Dewey: There’s a Cat in the Library! by Vicki Myron. We love Dewey – the cat who lived in a library. We have three versions of his story. The unabridged version, a shorter chapter book for middle grades and this picture story book for the little ones.
