Life has been a little slower this week. There was no chemo! The weeks we have chemo (two out of every three weeks), it takes three days out of my week. One day for blood work and to see the oncologist to talk about the blood work and Hugo’s health in general, and one day for the actual chemo treatment itself. The third day is the day after chemo when we go for an alternative treatment that helps to enhance the effectiveness of the chemo.
Anyway, thanks to a slightly slower schedule I’ve been able to do a little bit of sewing. Yeah. Sewing is so relaxing – most of the time – for me.
I’ve finished another one of these little messenger bags. I think this was #17. I love this pattern. It’s so easy, and almost any child loves to have their own bag. I even designed one with a flap off of the original pattern.


I’m loving this necklace pattern. This is what I helped my little guys make to give for holiday gifts to their sisters and girl cousins. I also made one for my mom and one for my sister. They are so incredibly easy and a nice way to use up some of my fabric stash.
My husband is starting to feel better. We’ve been through two chemo treatments, and it has been so good to see his health returning. With that return he wants to start going to the gym, and he wants me to go with him now. I’ve always felt uncomfortable about going to the gym because of needing gym clothes. However, I found this site that sells modest gym clothes. I’m in love. I’m eagerly awaiting my order so I can start going to the gym with my husband. Anyway, all of that to say that now I need a bag to carry my gym clothes in. I want to make my own, and I’m thinking about using this pattern.
I’ve lost my feather duster – no great loss it had slowly been losing feathers for a while. So I recently bought myself a Swiffer duster, BUT I do not want to pay for refills. I turned to Pinterest and in very short order found this pattern for making my own reusable dusters.

This soup looked so yummy and simple. I knew my family would enjoy it so I tried it this week. Of course, since I can’t leave a recipe alone I had to tweak it. Instead of tomato soup I used some organic beef broth, and it was a huge hit. My husband said he wants to see this regularly on our family menu, and the children enjoyed it too.
I have some leftover fleece – I loved the colour/pattern and rather overbought on what I needed. Anyway, I think I’d like to try this pattern for polar fleece socks for one of my daughters. Our wooden floors can be chilly in the winter especially in the mornings before our wood stove has really started going full blast.

I hope you all have had a good week. It felt good again to do a Friday post and share a little about the things I’ve been doing and trying. And I’ll leave you with just a couple of more pictures. I’ve shared before about our son Micah being dyslexic and the program we had him in for curing this. It’s amazing to watch his mind develop as it has become freed of the dyslexia. This week he did these Lego sculptures. When I asked where he found the idea since they seem advanced to me for his age, he said from his own brain. I’m pretty proud of him.

Totally pinned that pattern for reusable swiffer dusters! I use those too, but get really stingy about them because they’re spendy. A reusable alternative will rock!
I don’t like the idea of gyms either. I exercise in my own basement all alone because that’s where I’m comfortable. But it’s cool that you and your husband can work out together and encourage each other!

We’ve been to the gym together twice now, but the jury’s still out on whether or not I’ll ever enjoy this experience – tolerate, yes; enjoy, not so much. It didn’t help that my husband isn’t quite ready to exercise yet so he wasn’t truly “with” me. Today he just sat in the sauna enjoying the warmth and detoxing a little.
