Tomorrow is the date we’ve been waiting for – it seems like a long time – but in reality is only about a month. Tomorrow is the day my husband will have his kidney removed. It is also when we will find out if the cancer has been kept contained in the kidney or moved out into other organs.
I’ve discovered this past month that I cannot allow myself to sit and think of all the “what ifs”. It’s then I start to come unwound. So to prevent the temptation to do this I’ve been listening to a lot more music CDs than I normally do.
Two that I love are by missionary friends of ours – the Jacksons. One CD has their whole family singing songs written by Missionary Jerry Jackson. The other is all acappella with Brother Jerry singing all the parts to the various songs. One of my favourite songs on this particular CD is “He Will Pilot Me”. I tried to figure out a way to include Brother Jerry’s version here, but had to settle for a Baptist church from the States.
If you would like to have either of these CDs, you can buy them here.
This song has been going through my head a lot the last couple of days as I wait on the Lord and trust Him to lead us.
Although I cannot see the way, o’er life’s tempestuous sea,
I know that Jesus is my friend, and that He’ll pilot me (pilot me).
He’ll pilot me from day to day, (over life’s tempestuous sea)
When blinded eyes can’t see the way.
Let come what may, On life’s dark (and stormy) sea,
My (dear Lord) Blessed Lord will pilot me – pilot me.
Dear Lord what e’er the storm may be, I’ll simply trust in thee.
Relying on thy love so true, to safely pilot me.
He’ll pilot me from day to day (over life’s tempestuous sea)
When blinded eyes can’t see the way.
Then come what may on life’s dark (and stormy) sea
My (dear Lord) Blessed Lord – will pilot me-(pilot me)
He’ll pilot me from day to day
When blinded eyes can’t see the way,
Then come what may on life’s dark sea (stormy sea)
My (dear Lord) Blessed Lord – will pilot me-
He’ll pilot me from day to day
When blinded eyes can’t see the way.
Then come what may on life’s dark (and stormy) sea
My (dear Lord) Blessed Lord will pilot me- (Pilot me).

Thank you, Naomi. Today went well and I’m hoping my husband is sleeping right now. 🙂 You know how hospitals can be unrestful. 😦

Those lyrics (but not the tune) are very similar to the hymn “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me” that I know.
I’ve been praying hard every spare moment today.

I know “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me”, and I love that song too.
