When I decided I needed to get this update done so I could get on with planning my winter sewing I was pleasantly surprised at how much I accomplished over the summer.
So here’s the rundown:
~My three girls all need a new church dress. It’s a little harder with all of them getting older and really needing more sophisticated patterns. I didn’t get individual pictures, but here is a family picture with all three of them wearing their new dresses.

~The cloth version of paper towels. I keep putting this on my lists in hopes that one of these times I will really get it done. I’m almost ready to give up on this one since I keep putting it on my list, and it never gets done.
~Various birthday gifts. Here’s a sampling of some of the gifts I made over the summer.
~A baby gift for a friend who is due the end of the summer. I don’t know yet what the baby is so I can’t be specific in my planning yet. This is one hour away from being finished. I don’t want to say here what this is, but I am going to write an entire post on it soon. I tried a new pattern and loved it.
~FINISH the curtain in my little boys’ room. I’m so close. I’m just not sure how to finish it off, but I need to get this done! Still close on this one, but we’re not quite there yet.
~I need a back for the fleece quilt I made for myself. I had thought to do a fleece back, but now I’m thinking that a flannel one would be nice. Yes, the back is on. Now I need to do a binding. This picture shows part of the front and the flannel back.

~My husband asked me for a fleece quilt – funny story here – He was talking about me making a blanket for him and said, “It wouldn’t have to be very big. Say about seven feet by five feet.” I burst out laughing. My husband is 6′ 7″ so I understand the dimensions he gave, but that’s the size of a small floor rug. This is finished too except for the binding. I’ve machine-sewed it onto one side and just need to hand sew it down on the other side.

~Some kind of insulating curtains for some of the rooms in our house. Now that we’ve lived through a winter in our home, I have a better idea of what we need to do to prepare for winter. Didn’t get to this.
~A duvet cover and curtain for my bedroom. I know the pattern I want for the duvet cover. I just need to find the right fabric now. Didn’t get to this either.
~I still need to make an overnight bag for myself. I really need to make a final decision on the pattern and then get the fabric. Yes, I did this and absolutely love it. I love the colours and would like something similar for kitchen curtains. I would have liked it a little bigger, but it’s quite roomy as it is, and I’ve used it a lot for toting craft projects around with me.

~And if I have any time left, I’d like to try making a bean bag chair. I started making one. I’m not very far. I’m crocheting one with plarn (yarn made from plastic bags).
Now I can start thinking about my winter sewing list.
How did you do on your summer goals?
My sewing goals are still pretty much a bust from this summer due to the baby and some health issues but I’m slowly getting things done now. My girls have taken over my machine and Em has been designing doll clothes and doing quite well.
We have promised them a second machine next year.
Love all your quilts and that tote is so cute.
I will email you a pic of the baby’s dress when I get it done. It will be her thanksgiving dress (along with the grey Pilgrim one I wore) and I think you’ll love it
I have told myself a little each day goes a long way. No more start to finish for me – at least for now.

WOW! You have been busy.
My only sewing project this summer was to make myself a new layered skirt from fabric I bought back around Easter… I got the pieces cut and the very bottom hemmed, and that’s as far as I got. Hoping to finish it for Christmas. I got a lot of other things done over the summer, and also this fall, but not that. YET!

The thing about my sewing is that it’s also one of my hobbies. It’s something I’m passionate about so I’m willing (need) to put time into it. I imagine you did a ton more writing than me. 🙂
