Friday File 59

I’ve found a way to do a little – very little – bit of gardening this year. I’m not complaining though because last year’s gardening time amounted to zero. I’m not much good at it, but I do love to garden. This year I treated myself to three hanging flower baskets to hang outside the doors of my house. I enjoy watering them and checking for dead blossoms to take off.

This year in order to do a little vegetable gardening I bought three window boxes from the dollar store and planted radishes. Why radishes?

Do you see my baby radishes? šŸ™‚ I know it’s not a very exciting picture, but I was excited when I went to water them this morning to see these little plants.

And for the rest of my gardening – My rhubarb was/is ready to be harvested. My middle son and I went out and grabbed a bunch which he then carefully cut the ends off of for me. Then my oldest daughter and I came up with a crisp recipe that was THM-friendly. The entire family loved it, and I have heard several hints since then that we need to have some more.

On to what I found interesting on the internet this week. My time on the internet has been spotty due to slow rural connection speeds. Sometimes I can’t even get on if the weather is ify. I try to just see it as more time to spend with my children – something I’m trying to be more meaningful about doing.

I’ve been pinning knitted dishcloth patterns lately. All of my dishcloths are getting worn out, so I’m thinking about making some new ones. They’re usually simple and quick to make, and you have a real sense of accomplishment. Plus they’re generally prettier than store-bought dishcloths. I think this pattern is pretty.

I love this idea for making a scarf hanger. This would make a simple and fast homemade gift. This was just an image-only pin that I found, but I think you could figure out how to make this yourself. The rings are shower curtain rings.
