This week I want to celebrate scrapbooking. I’m going to do a series of posts related to scrapbooking. We’re even going to have a small giveaway.
If you had told me ten years ago that I would be totally in love with scrapbooking I would have laughed in your face. Scrapbooking scared me. I can be creative in some things, but I know my limitations, and scrapbooking was one of them.
I was always very careful about printing up all the pictures we took. In fact, I usually printed doubles so I would have some to give away to family. I sometimes wrote a brief description on the back of the photo and then put them all in albums. This was my limitation.
Then my sister gave my mom a scrapbooking kit. I knew this was a good fit for my mom. She is very creative and enjoys taking pictures so I knew this would enjoy this hobby. She loved it and started right in. Over time she found Creative Memories – a scrapbooking company – and decided to become a consultant with them.
She was so enthusiastic about her new hobby and trying to get others to join her that she decided to give me an album. She knew I wasn’t very receptive to the idea of traditional scrapbooking so she gave me Creative Memories’ version of a pocket album. And the rest as they say is history.

But scrapbooking has become so much more than paper scrapbooking in this computer age. You can now do digital scrapbooking as well. I have to say that I. love. digital. scrapbooking. I could do it all day long and am always looking for an excuse to do another book.
I’m very sad when I see all the photos on social media and realize how few are being printed. Our children will not have books to hold filled with memories of their childhood. Preserving these memories does not have to be hard. There are simple ways, and my hope is that I can inspire someone this week to start doing something more with their photos than just sharing them on social media. Save them in a more permanent form for the pleasure of your family.

How do you preserve your photos?
