A New Kind of Fun – Bullet Journalling

Last month I discovered a new way to journal. It’s called Bullet Journaling. I think I saw a post about it come up in my Pinterest feed, and it caught my interest. I read the post and was sold.

For a very detailed explanation of what is involved in Bullet Journaling go to this website. Basically when I read this site everything came together for me.

Since I don’t have a phone with all of the fancy organizing apps, I have always had two to three notebooks and possibly a clipboard on the go with all of my lists and notes to myself. This system brings it all together in one place and simplifies my life. Simple is good, right?

I think the most amazing part, the “duh” moment for me, was when they explained about putting a page number on each page and setting up an index in the front of your journal so you can easily find your various notes, lists, thoughts, etc.

This made so much sense to me. How many times have I flipped through a notebook looking for a specific item and just. couldn’t. find. it. So frustrating.

I’m not very artistic so I don’t do all the fancy things some people do to decorate their journals, but what I’m doing works for me, and that’s the important part. I did have a pretty notebook sitting on my shelf that I hadn’t found a use for yet so I grabbed that and got started.

~Of course, I set up my index first.

~Then I made a “key” to decide what kind of “bullets” I was going to use to signify the various tasks.

After that the fun really began.

~Now I have a page for birthdays and anniversaries instead of constantly losing the paper I had them on.

~There’s a page for me to keep a running shopping list of things we need.

~Another page holds all the various passwords I have for different websites.

~I used another page for sketching out an idea for a big blog post I want to do soon.

~When I had a telephone consultation with our naturopath I took notes in my journal so I could remember what was said and recommended and easily review the information.

~My five-year-old wanted a new notebook so I challenged him to make his bed for an entire week, and we charted it in the journal.

~I’ve decided to glue cards the children give me in the back so I don’t lose them.

~I have calendar pages I’ve drawn for individual months so I can keep track of what we’re doing.

~Phone numbers fill another page.

~When menu planning it’s handy to have a list of meals that we like.

Healthy Simplicity - Bullet JournalingI really cannot say how good it is to have so much information indexed and readily available. It has made my life simpler which I’m all for.

Does this sound like something that would bless your life?
