My Love of Digital Scrapbooking

There are a few things I am in love with besides my husband and my babies. One of those things is digital scrapbooking. I never thought I would enjoy scrapbooking of any description, but then my mom became a consultant with Creative Memories. Creative Memories has a product that they used to call “PicFolios” and now just call pocket albums. Anyway, my mom bought one for me and the rest, as they say, is history.

Pocket albums are not traditional scrapbooking. You put your pictures in the pockets and can mat them or add journaling boxes and embellishments if you wish. They are perfect for me. I now have over a dozen of these completed.

But my love for pocket albums pales when compared to my love of digital scrapbooking. Creative Memories is not currently doing digital scrapbooking although they have in the past. However, I use the same company that they did – Forever Artisan.

I have used/looked at numerous other programs for digital scrapbooking. None of them have been as user friendly or as versatile as I find Forever Artisan to be. They are currently transitioning from being called Panstoria to Forever which is why the button on the side of my blog says Panstoria still. That should change soon.

In the last five or six years I have made an average of two books a year. I currently have three books ready to be printed. You can get your books printed with Forever Artisan, but due to the weak Canadian dollar I get them printed in Canada with a company I trust. If I lived in the States though I would totally get them printed through Forever Artisan.

I have made books about family vacations, one to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday with pictures that covered her life, another one for my husband for his 50th birthday, books that celebrated all of our birthdays for a particular year (this is a yearly book that I do). I enjoy making these books so much that I could work on them for hours at a time quite happily.

I love that if I have my laptop with me while vacationing I can start a book about that vacation while all the emotions and memories are fresh for journaling. I also love that there is no set-up and mess to take care of like when I do the paper scrapbooking.

But that’s not all I do with my Forever Artisan program. Every time you see a decorated verse on this blog, I have done that with Artisan (the name of the software). I have made bookmarks and labels, games for the children and collages, invitations and signs. I have done verses that I had printed at a photo shop in 5 X 7 inch format and framed to give as a gift. I’ve done quotes or a verse that I printed up and then adhered the paper to a ceramic tile and given that as a gift.

I have not been quick to sign up with products as an affiliate. I want to make sure that the one(s) I choose are things that I love and am passionate about. Forever Artisan, and particularly their software Panstoria Artisan digital scrapbooking software, is a company that I can enthusiastically present to you. If you buy their product through me I will receive some reimbursement, but I would happily recommend you buy this product even if I wasn’t reimbursed.

To give you a taste of all that can be done with this software here is a sample of some of the things that I have done.

  1. Every year for Christmas, I make my mother-in-law a Shutterfly book filled with pictures of my kids from the past year. She doesn’t have anywhere to display photos, really, or lots of storage room, so one small 8×8 book filled with photos works super well for her. I do enjoy making the books, though I tend to leave it until the last minute and not have as much fun with it as I could if I took my time with it.

    1. That’s a fantastic gift, and you’re right – they ARE economical for space. We used to have a friend (she’s in heaven now) who took pictures of our children before church on a regular basis. Once a year she would put all the pictures on a CD for me. I treasure those. I’m so happy I live in modern times, and pictures are so easy to take and preserve.
