Knitting on Multiple Needles

As you know, I’m pretty excited that I’ve learned to knit socks. I’m working on my second pair right now and plan on starting a third pair as soon as I can.

I really enjoyed the challenge of learning something new. One thing though was a major frustration…

I just could not figure out how to hold the needles comfortably so that they didn’t feel like they were working against each other.

Finally after much trial and error I realized that if I held the needle I was currently knitting off of so that it laid on top of the others I was able to knit without the needles running into each other.

In this picture the arrow is pointing to the needle that I am getting to ready to knit from. As you can see from the circles the needle is resting on top of the other two needles.

In this picture I’ve started to knit and you can see that even the needle that I’m using to knit with is on top of the other needles.

I hope these pictures are clear enough and can save someone else the frustration I went through figuring this out.

I’m thinking that next I want to work on hats which I think would be easier because they don’t have a heel. ☺

Do you have a tip for making knitting easier?
