I have many books in my library about homemaking. It’s a subject I love to read and research about.

Over the next few weeks I want to go through Edith Schaeffer’s book: The Hidden Art of Homemaking. I think I’ve read this book about three times now and am due for another round of it. I love this book.

I’ve read several of Edith Schaeffer’s books and am always so blessed by them. L’Abri, The Tapestry: The Life and Times of Francis and Edith Schaeffer, What Is a Family?, as well as one more about a piano. I gave that book away and can’t find any reference to it on any of the normal book sites.

The Tapestry was the first book I read. It’s a beautiful book – long, but well worth the read showing how God weaves our lives together.

The Hidden Art is a book that I have enjoyed reading on my own, gone through in a ladies’ Bible study and given away as a gift more than once.

You might not think you’re artistic, but Mrs. Schaeffer shows how you can take the commonplace and make it beautiful. God is creative, and since we are made in His image we are creative too.

Some of the chapter titles are: What is Hidden Art?, Music, Interior Decoration,  Food, Clothing, Environment.

You don’t have to get the book to join us in this study, but you wouldn’t regret reading it either. It will challenge you in a sweet and gentle way to be a homemaker wherever you are – a tent, a house, an apartment, a mansion, a bungalow, a hut or a hotel room.
