I read a really great novel recently. Marta’s Promise by Jeanne Dennis is the story of how Germans were asked to come to Russia by Catherine the Great. They endured great hardships which did not end just because they arrived at their destination.
17-year-old daughter – Rainbow Valley by Lucy Maude Montgomery
11-year-old daughter – Uglies by Scott . This is another dystopian book where beauty is valued above all other traits with disastrous results.
9-year-old daughter – Dennis the Menace – She’s on a kick with them right now because she bought a bunch at a used book store.
7-year-old son – We’re still moving through Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. This is such a nice way to end the day together.
4-year-old son – Elizabite by H.A. Rey. This is a cute story told in poem by the author of Curious George. Elizabite is a carnivorous plant whose biting habit turns her into a heroine.
2-year-old son – The Tale of Mr. Tod by Beatrix Potter. This is one of her longer books with not as many pictures. My seven and four-year-old boys were enjoying it, but we weren’t able to finish it.
No links this week – my internet wasn’t working properly. One of the joys of country living.
I will have to look into the book you read about the immigrants. Seems interesting.
I’m not sure I could read the end books of Anne series right now – she losing Walter in war is just gonna hit a bit hard for me.
I haven’t heard of the book, “Uglies” – do they end by letting the girls know that God’s beauty is best? So sad that our society weighs in on value being looks, size, etc instead of godliness and femininity.
We are getting close to seeing Almanzo and Laura engaged and we can’t wait haha – enjoying the series.
