I was recently reminded of this song and have not been able to get it out of my head. I find myself humming just about every day now. The message is so powerful.
Lord help me live from day to day
In such a self-forgetful way
That even when I kneel to pray
My prayer shall be for – Others.
Help me in all the work I do
To ever be sincere and true
And know that all I do for you
Must needs be done for – Others.
Let “Self” be crucified and slain
And buried deep; and all in vain
May efforts be to rise again
Unless to live for – Others.
And when my work on earth is done
And my new work in heaven’s begun
May I forget the crown I’ve won
While thinking still of – Others.
Refrain:
Others, Lord, yes others
Let this my motto be
Help me to live for others
That I may live like Thee.

I spent a long time looking for the music for this song, and finally my persistence was rewarded. This song is so beautiful in both words and music.
How do you live for others?

That’s a beautiful hymn! We have one in my church that this reminded me of – Have I done any good in the world today? My favorite version has is by Alex Boye – https://youtu.be/aIeA_5yYgB4, but you can find the non-spinned version here – https://youtu.be/0aUeLeKlrac.

That sounds like a nice song. The world needs more people caring for each other – that’s for sure.

The words to this song are all humbling – something we lack in many modern songs today.
Teaching our kids humility at the foot of the cross is such an important job.
