I’ve been reading a missionary book to my children. Treasures from the Darkness by Gail Jackson tells the story of her family’s time in Papua New Guinea. There are amazing stories and lessons to be learned. Another bonus is that buying this book helps to pay for the immigration costs of Mrs. Jackson’s son and family who are coming to Canada as missionaries. I love reading missionary stories and am already thinking about what we will read next.

16-year-old daughter – High Society: The Life of Grace Kelly by Donald Spoto. She has recently discovered enjoyment in the old Hollywood classics. Which has also influenced her reading.
14-year-old son – The Slippery Slope by Lemony Snicket. Quite a few of us have been reading the books in the “Series of Unfortunate Events”. They’re easy reading and they explain a lot of big words in a way that I think young children would enjoy. The mystery part of the story which continues on through each book is interesting enough to hold my interest.
12-year-old son – The Penultimate Peril by Lemony Snicket
11-year-old daughter –Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg. This is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice.
9-year-old daughter –The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket
7-year-old son – “Peter Rabbit” books by Beatrix Potter. I put “Peter Rabbit” in quotes because we have all the books and when the children say they read “Peter Rabbit” they don’t necessarily mean the actual Peter Rabbit book. Lately the baby has taken to carrying a stack around with him everywhere – five to be exact. He and his dad have enjoyed The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin several times in the past few weeks.
4-year-old son – Horton Hatches an Egg by Dr. Seuss. Really any book that is read to Ethan is also read to Jonah. This one was read to them by their oldest sister. She’s a great help to me when I’m in the middle of doing something and one or the other or both of the little boys is hanging on me so I can’t move she gets a book and reads to them. The perfect help.

I’m going to get some other chapter books for Stef (check my pinterest board) as she is flying through any and all books around here.
I need to Skype and read to the boys this week! It is time 🙂

He has a little stack that is generally five books. He even says “five” when he’s carrying it. 🙂 The boys would love to have you read to them.

Just got back from library and I was so intent on finding chapter books (new series) for Tim and Stef that I forgot to find fun books for the boys – will have to look in my stack here 🙂
