The Joy of Having Siblings

Today I asked my children what their favourite thing about having a lot of siblings is. I didn’t give them time to think – just tell me what comes into your head. Here are their answers…

16-year-old daughter – When everyone piles into the house after being out, and someone’s singing off-key, and everyone’s bustling around…

14-year-old son – Something is always happening.

12-year-old son – There’s always a baby around

11-year-old daughter – Everyone is obsessed with their own thing. So if I want to do a certain thing someone will be interested in doing it with me.

9-year-old daughter – It’s nice to play with the little ones, and the older ones buy us stuff.

7-year-old son – Always someone to play with

4-year-old son – I like giving presents.

2-year-old son – I’m speaking for what I think Jonah would say – Everyone spoils me, caters to my every whim and generally has confirmed my belief that the sun rises and sets on me.

Some pictures through the years.

I REALLY don’t think Jonah believes all that LOL πŸ™‚ J/K
Right now I’m hearing Em cook lunch for us in the kitchen (I let them eat “whatever” for lunch but she usually ends up cooking for us) and the other three playing minecraft with a friend named “Ethan” – yep – we have one here, too :).
Yesterday, Em made cookies with Tim and rolls with Stef and then Em and Tim surprised Stef this week with a new house for the dolls :).
Some days they seem to play separated and then others times they are all together.
With spring here – finally – they have been outside a lot.
It is RARE for them to have a friend here and that doesn’t make me sad at all – they are friends with each other and I don’t believe it should be any other way!!! πŸ™‚

Now – due to the title of this post (not blog, EJ haha) – I thought maybe you should put a postscript of why it is good YOU have siblings and tell everyone it is because the aunt is always willing to Skype and ready silly library books to the nieces and nephews :). I promise not to teach them TOO many bad things πŸ™‚

I don’t think our children will ever regret that we went beyond the first baby. πŸ™‚ I know I’m glad our parents didn’t. πŸ™‚
