Quirky fact about me: I LOVE buttons. I buy them in bulk whenever I get a chance. My button box is overflowing so I also have button bags. I guess you could have figured that out just by looking at the top of this page.
I am always looking for ways to use buttons other than just for holding some piece of clothing together. A long time ago I made a vest for my sister and covered the two front pieces in buttons. I totally loved that project. I use them a lot in my digital projects. Here’s some pictures of some of the ways I have found to use buttons – every day.

They also make great toys if your little ones are old enough to know not to put them in their mouth. Right now there are three children sitting on my bed sorting through the button box finding matches.
How do you use buttons? Do you have a favourite embellishment for projects?

You’ll have to tell me how you did the magnet – that is pretty.
I have never thought to put two buttons in the hair elastics – will be trying that!
And the quilting idea – love that!
Not that I quilt yet but I will be soon as I now have my Norman Rockwell plates on display in living area (forgot to take a pic) and so I want to get my wall hangings of the four rights quilted (not that I’ll use buttons for those haha).

The magnet is so easy but maybe I’ll do a photo tutorial. 😉
I love Norman Rockwell. My bathroom on the main floor is full of his pictures. You’ll have to send me pictures of what you do.

Buttons are very versatile to be sure.
…but you know what’s almost as versatile as buttons?
Tribbles.
They go with ANY nationality of human, they calm and sooth Vulcans, Cardassians (and they don’t even USE buttons)…Akritirian’s, Bajorans, Berellians…just about anyone BUT a Klingon.
Then again, Klingons don’t use buttons either.
Good news is, I use buttons and there are a LOT of people who are grateful I do too (smirk).

I would love to have a tribble, but only if I could be assured that one on it’s own could not reproduce. 🙂

Awwwwwww, but that takes all the adventure out of it!
Besides, aren’t we all supposed to strive to “become more than we are”?
Muahahahahaha!
(sorry…I thought it was funny =)

I want a tribble, too! If you cannot find one, you can make one.

You are really creative. I love all of these ideas for using buttons. I’m going to have to show this to my middle son. He loves to be creative like this, and he’s asked to keep extra buttons his grandmother isn’t using.

I like to use buttons for embellishment, too. I once made my mother-in-love a t-shirt with buttons that spelled out Jesus. She wore it often.
I loved the flower on the skirt and pinned it! Your girls are so cute. If you’d like me to remove it, please let me know.
Blessings,
Laura

I don’t mind you pinning that picture.
I did a vest for one of my sisters once that had various gold buttons all over the front. It took forever to sew them on, but it was so pretty.

No problem with the pin.
