Friday File 7

Healthy Simplicity - Friday FileThis has been a busy week for us – two birthdays. First my middle son, Micah, turned seven, and then four days later I had a birthday. There are rumours of a birthday cake being made for me this afternoon. It’s nice when your children get old enough to plan a celebration for you. Micah was my first digital baby so I have lots of pictures of him. He was so cute. He had piles of long, curly hair. He was also my only baby to suck his thumb, and it didn’t matter which thumb it was.

I love this first article. It was such a good reminder to me that what we feed our children’s souls is going to affect their entire life – more than what you feed their physical body.

Why Your Kids’ Appetites Matter

My mom did such a good job of showing my sisters and I how to take care of your husband. Her example has tempered my reactions in marriage more than once.

Winter can be so hard when you’re all stuck in the house together. This looks like a fun craft for a long afternoon when you’re inside with nothing to do. I have buttons and elastic so I’m thinking we’re going to make some of these soon.

A couple of weeks ago I shared an article by a father of twelve about the things people say to him about his large family. Here’s another article  – this time why you should not be ashamed of being “just a mom”.

12 Concrete Reasons Why The Kids Should Kiss Your Apron

I’ve mentioned “Kid Snippets” before if you want a laugh. They only take two or three minutes to watch. Everyone makes New Year’s resolutions to exercise more. Maybe you can follow this workout…

  1. Jen, I’m SHOCKED!!

    ….there’s no…such…thing…as “just a mom.”

    Crazy. Absurd. Ridiculous!

    Just a mom….
    (shakes his head)

You ladies carry the souls of mankind.

If that doesn’t scream “WOW!” to someone, well, they need their head examined.

Besides the fact that you’re also a listener, driver, translator, joy giver, teacher, negotiator, bug killer, reader, opener, cheerleader, monster killer & bad dream fixer (short list).

Mom’s make the world spin, Jennifer. How is that anything less than…epic?

You will notice that I put “just a mom” in quotes. I know we’re so much more than that, but sometimes in the nitty-gritty of daily life it’s hard to remember that all we do counts for eternity. I appreciated your reminder.
