Up to the Mark

Years ago when I started homeschooling I knew I needed a system for recording marks that was simple. Somewhere in my searching I found a system that with just a few tweaks works for me. This is what my mark sheet looks like.

Healthy Simplicity - School Marks

As you can see it’s a very simple form. When I have a mark I just put it on the appropriate day. At the end of nine weeks it’s just a matter of averaging everything out. At the end of the year, I put everyone’s mark sheets into a folder for that year along with my weekly planning sheets so if I ever need to I can look back and see what we did.

How do you record your homeschool marks?

Mine is very similar – but is given with the curricula. I’m determined this year to mark every day and keep up with things. We’ll see how it goes LOL

About two or three years ago I learned the hard lesson of keeping up with marks. With six students it just doesn’t pay to get behind. The most I tend to get behind now is just one day. It feels so good to stay on top of it. Plus it gives me a good (immediate) idea if they are truly understanding their lessons.
