Library Time - Healthy Simplicity

So I know it’s been a week since I posted anything. I’ve been busy sewing this week. I’ve made three skirts – one for each of my daughters – as well as doing organizing and purging. I will try to get back on track with posts next week.

I’ve also been doing some reading. Right now I have five books on the go. It was six, but I finished one this afternoon. You really need to read this book – The Same Kind of Different as Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. This is a story about a modern-day slave in America, a high end art dealer and the woman who brought them together. This is a true story. It will make you laugh and cry. You will never look at homeless people the same again, and you will find yourself asking how you can serve God better. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

15-year-old daughter – Divergent by Veronica Roth

14-year-old son – The War: An Intimate History, 1941-1945 by Geoffrey C. Ward. This book covers America’s involvement in World War II.

12-year-old son – Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

10-year-old daughter – Gregor and the Marks of Secret by Suzanne Collins

8-year-old daughter – Cam Jansen: The Triceratops Pops Mystery by David A. Adler

6-year-old son – Sam Sheep Can’t Sleep by Jenny Tyler. We recently discovered these Usborne phonics readers at our library. This is the second one that we have used to practice reading. The first time through is usually a little hard, but after that Micah can hear himself improving with every reading which encourages him to keep going.

3-year-old son –  Horton Hatches the Egg by Dr. Seuss. I love how this story teaches keeping one’s word and faithfulness in spite of difficulties.

Can you keep all 5 books straight LOL 🙂 I think I have several going. I was going to read today and ended up reading – anything I could get my hands on about Jon’s training ;). Pierre says I’m obsessed – haha – but I just want to be up on what HE is doing so I can write to him about it.
Anyway, Tim is still into Garfield but I DID get a Donald Duck book out that he has been reading. I need to ask Gucci about her books – she got some interesting new ones that looked like they would be fun to read.
I will have to look at the books that Micah is reading – Stef might like those.
Oh yeah – one question – is there anything in the WWII book that Noah is reading that he doesn’t know yet? lol

Good question for Noah. 🙂 I’ve been hearing WWII facts. 🙂 Stefie would like these books. They’ve certainly given Micah a big boost in confidence.
