This week I went back to one of my favourite authors. When all other books fail to interest me his never do – Philip Oppenheim. This time I read The Great Secret. The girl started out on the “bad guy” side and I didn’t see how she could/would switch so the hero could have the girl he loved. Oppenheim’s stories are so much more than romance. There is always a romance but there is also spies and adventure. I don’t know why I enjoy these stories so much but I do. When my husband first gave me my Kindle I downloaded every title I could – 54 – all free.
I’m also in the middle of reading Opening My Heart by Tilda Shalof. She is a nurse who writes books about her experiences. This time though she’s a patient needing open-heart surgery. She has a great style that keeps you interested in a medical subject. I’ve read some of her other books and enjoyed them.
15-year-old daughter – My daughter and I went to the thrift store one night, and she scored 28 books! A lot of classics and also books she knew her siblings would want. It was a lot of fun. This week she read The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits and a Very Interesting Boy by Jeanne Birdsall
14-year-old son – Divergent by Veronica Roth
12-year-old son – Monster by Frank Peretti. My boys enjoy Peretti’s novels with their fantastic creatures and highly imaginative stories. This one is about sasquatch and very well done.
10-year-old daughter – Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh
8-year-old daughter – Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary
6-year-old son – The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit by Beatrix Potter
3-year-old son – Fabian Escapes by by Peter McCarty. The cat goes out and the dog stays in. BUT who has the most fun and gets into the most trouble?
You will notice a button linking to Amazon. I now am an affiliate with Amazon. If anyone buys something through a link I put up I will get a very small percentage. I will never recommend anything that I wouldn’t be willing for my own family to own.
What books have you and your family enjoyed this week?

Interesting reads….and interesting thing about Amazon. 😉
I’m reading an author right now, Irene Hannon that came recommended by Dee Henderson (O’Malley series). I’m not normally “into” modern novels but these are mysteries that keep you going and are well written.
This afternoon, I was reading in bed as were Emilie and Gucci and Pierre walked down the hall and said, “three women doing the same thing” LOL – LOVE IT.
Tim and Stef have become avid readers, too and that makes me SMILE :).

It’s so great when everyone is reading. I’ll have to look for that author. I love Dee Henderson. That O’Malley series is one of my favourites.
